Writing Organized Outlines

Writing Organized Outlines In-Person / Online

In this workshop, students will learn the technique of outlining and reverse outlining (if a draft already exists) to refine their drafts early on and enhance the clarity of their writing.

Session objectives include:

- Discovering how to analyze work before and after drafting by breaking it down into its key components,

- Assessing structure, flow, and coherence,

- Identifying gaps, redundancies, or areas needing further development,

- Reorganizing ideas more effectively,

- Identifying weak transitions,

- Ensuring arguments or narratives are well-supported with necessary evidence.

Participants will create outlines and / or reverse outlines, with opportunities to revise and strengthen existing drafts. They will also explore how to adapt these strategies to various types of academic writing, from course assignments and research papers to theses and dissertations.
