Introduction to Overdrive (the Libby App) for Digital Books and Audiobooks Online
Overdrive (through the Libby app) is one of the many ways that you have access to digital resources through the The Nancy Thompson Learning Center. This free, user-friendly app makes it easier than ever to stream or download a limited number of ebooks and digital audiobooks. Whether you are new to Libby and Overdrive or are a familiar with the platform through your public library, come and learn a bit more about how to access digital books and audiobooks through the NTLC.
Learning Objectives:
- The workshop will introduce the basics of Overdrive/Libby, what it is, how it works and how to use it most efficiently.
- The workshop will discuss the steps to downloading the Libby app and connecting your Kean account to check out items.
- The workshop will cover searching in Overdrive/Libby, tagging titles and putting on holds.
- The workshop will feature a discussion of potential problems with Overdrive.
- The workshop will address specifics of the Libby app, such as offline use, font size, reading speed, and reaching out for technical help.
Learning Outcomes:
- Participants will be aware of and able to access the Libby app.
- Participants will be able to search for, borrow, and download titles available through Libby.
- Participants will be able to tag titles with specific purposes for later use.
- Participants will be able to view, read, or listen to books on Libby.
- Participants will be aware of and able to materials covered and not included in Libby.
