No Run Ons: Writing Concise Sentences

No Run Ons: Writing Concise Sentences In-Person / Online

This workshop will guide students in learning and reviewing the essential components of sentence construction. Participants will explore the different types of sentences—simple, compound, and complex—and learn when and how to use each structure to enhance precision in their writing.

Session objectives include:

- Focusing on how sentence variety can improve readability,

- Avoiding common sentence-level errors, such as fragments, run-ons, and misused punctuation,

- Crafting sentences that convey ideas, maintaining both grammatical accuracy and stylistic flow.

The workshop will include hands-on practice exercises revising and rewriting sentences. We encourage students to bring in their own writing to also work on during the session.
