Citing & Writing: Chicago Manual of Style (CMOS), 18th Edition In-Person / Online

Whether you're crafting a historical analysis, publishing scholarly work, or preparing nonfiction writing, you’ll need to use the Chicago Manual of Style (CMOS). This workshop introduces participants to the latest edition of CMOS, with a focus on both the Notes and Bibliography system and the Author-Date citation style.

This session will help you:

  • Apply Chicago style to manuscript formatting, headings, tables, and more,
  • Choose between Notes-Bibliography and Author-Date systems appropriately,
  • Cite a variety of sources, including archival materials, digital content, and AI-generated texts,
  • Format footnotes, endnotes, and bibliographies accurately,
  • Understand key updates in the newest edition of CMOS.

Ideal for student researchers in the humanities and social sciences, this workshop provides real-world examples and time to work on your own writing. Bring your lunch or a snack!
