Library Resources for Psychology Research Online
Kean University’s Learning Commons offers a treasure-trove of databases relevant for students who are writing research papers for Psychology courses. This online workshop will focus on how you can access books, ebooks, articles, videos, and more through the WorldCat Discovery database. In addition, the workshop will highlight searching strategies for key psychology databases that provide access to peer-reviewed journal articles, test instruments, videos, and other resources.
Learning Objectives:
- The workshop will introduce the variety of Research Support and Learning Support services available to Kean students through the Nancy Thompson Learning Commons.
- The workshop will highlight the Psychology-focused resources accessible through the Databases A-Z page.
- The workshop will cover Periodicals A-Z as an entry point to the digital periodicals collection.
- The workshop will feature database searching strategies that will produce relevant search results for topics of interest.
- The workshop will introduce how members of the Kean community may use Google Scholar to access full-text articles for free through Kean's library databases.
Learning Outcomes:
- Participants will gain familiarity with and be able to navigate the Psychology databases available through Kean University.
- Participants will learn to develop and apply effective search strategies to locate relevant books, ebooks, journal articles, test instruments, and other information sources.
- Participants will be able to adjust Google Scholar settings to access full-text articles through "Full Text @ Kean University."
- Participants will understand how to utilize research and learning support services, including through LibChat and through appointments with librarians, Writing Services, Tutoring, and the Public Speaking Lab.
