Exploring Asian-American/Pacific Islander Heritage Month via the Learning Commons Resources Online
Celebrate Asian-American/Pacific Islander Heritage Month through the information resources provided by the Nancy Thompson Learning Commons. The session will focus on the Federal Asian Pacific American Council’s 2024 theme: " ‘Advancing Leaders Through Innovation,’ [which] pays homage to the visionaries and trailblazers who have shaped our AANHPI history and continue to influence our collective future.” Delve into subject-focused Research Guides for quick access to relevant resources and search tools.
Learning Objectives:
- The workshop will introduce the variety of Research Support and Learning Support services available to Kean students through the Nancy Thompson Learning Commons.
- The workshop will guide participants through the use of WorldCat Discovery to search for and access books, ebooks, articles, multimedia, Open Educational Resources, and more.
- The workshop will highlight the wide variety of multidisciplinary and subject-focused resources accessible through the Databases A-Z page.
Learning Outcomes:
- Participants will be aware of and able to access the search interfaces for WorldCat Discovery and more than 250 multidisciplinary and subject-focused databases to which Kean University subscribes.
- Participants will be aware of and able to access research and learning support through LibChat as well as appointments with librarians and tutors/coaches from Writing Services, Tutoring, and the Public Speaking Lab.
