Using Search Alerts and Other Database Productivity Tools Webinar for Faculty Online
The Nancy Thompson Learning Commons at Kean University provides access to information resources meant to support the research activities of Kean faculty and students. For instance, the Learning Commons website features more than 240 multidisciplinary and subject-focused databases that provide access to books and ebooks, peer-reviewed journal articles, data, streaming videos, and much more. This online workshop will cover database productivity options -- including search alerts, citation alerts, and journal alerts -- that will enable Kean’s scholars to stay abreast of the most recent scholarship published in their areas of research.
Learning Objectives:
- The workshop will guide participants through options available to them for creating personal “research folders” within various databases.
- The workshop will review the steps required to save search strategies within a database.
- The workshop will cover the steps for setting up search alerts within various databases.
- The workshop will introduce options for setting up journal alerts.
- The workshop will review the steps for setting up citation alerts in the Web of Science database.
- The workshop will review Alert options available in Google Scholar.
Learning Outcomes:
- Participants will be able to set up search alerts, journal alerts, and other database productivity functions.
- Participants will be able to set up citation alerts in the Web of Science database.
- Participants will be able to set up alerts in Google Scholar.
